Extreme Rolling
Today we left Wedderburn and headed to Wycheproof. Then, 12kms out of Wedderburn, Andreas had his rear right tyre blow out as we were cruising along sitting on about 25kph.
His left tyre was also worn so we changed both at the same time. After losing some time during the repair, we kicked up the pace on the road and arrived at our mid point stop of Charlton. We stopped there for 1 hr and did some collecting from the very generous townspeople then set off to Wycheproof which was 30 kms away. We arrived into Wycheproof on time and had people in the street welcoming us as we rode into town. A total of 60kms today. We then went to the local school and had another great time with the students.
Andreas and Dale are hand cycling from Melbourne to Darwin to raise awareness of disability and raise funds for the treatment of children with clubfoot. Follow their journey at the extremerolling website
Local link to restaurant
Vogue Entertaining + Travel latest edition reviews Loam Restaurant, Drysdale, on the Bellarine Penisula. The menu features artisan produce and includes our very own Glenloth Game squabs with beach herbs (saltbush, wild fennel and samphire) on its menu. Chef Aaron Turner has a Wycheproof connection and his restaurant, set amid an olive grove, is described as a Michelin-worthy upstart
In the sprit of father Christmas
Ron Smith of Colac visited Wycheproof just before Christmas with a trailer load of his wooden toys. Wycheproof was just one stop on his delivery tour of the district. His toys were distributed by the Lions Club of Wycheproof on Christmas Eve at the community event at Centenary Park, much to the delight of local children. This was a most generous gift from Ron to the children of Wycheproof and all the community commend and are thankful for his kindness and generosity. He keeps the true spirit of Christmas alive.
Dawn at the WCRC was please to accept Ron's generous Christmas gifts for the children of Wycheproof
